Lukashenko, Putin to meet in Moscow on 9 September

MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) - The presidents of Belarus and Russia Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin will meet in Moscow on 9 September. The date was agreed by the heads of state during a telephone conversation on 30 August, BelTA learned the press service of the Belarusian leader.

During the meeting, the presidents will once again discuss the Union State programs prepared by the governments of the two countries, other topical issues on the bilateral agenda and also international issues.

As BelTA has reported, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko held a number of telephone talks in the morning of 30 August. The main topic for the discussion was the situation in Afghanistan. “The parties held the consultations on the issues raised at the CSTO meeting in Dushanbe and the development of the common position on Afghanistan,” the press service said.

The Belarusian leader first discussed the topic with the president of Tajikistan and then held a telephone talk with the Russian president.

Aleksandr Lukashenko is also expected to speak with his counterpart from Uzbekistan.
