“It is expected that the major accent of the meeting will be on the measures to reverse the reducing trend in mutual trade on the back of the economic instability in the region and worldwide. Taking into account close trade and economic cooperation between the two countries both within the Union State and the Eurasian Economic Union, the meeting will also discuss the strengthening of integration and the prospects for removing certain restrictions in mutual trade,” Natalya Eismont said.

The heads of state are set to talk over other issues on the bilateral relations and international agendas.

After the bilateral meeting Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin will take part at the plenary meeting of the 3^rd Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions that is also due to take place at the Palace of Independence. This time the event will highlight social and humanitarian issues. The participants of the meeting will consider the need for further unification and harmonization of the legal framework of Belarus and Russia in the social and humanitarian sector, joint counteraction to external challenges and threats, first of all, the economic ones.

According to the spokeswoman, scientific and sci-tech cooperation, the development of the common education space and partnership in the cultural sector will take a special place on the agenda of the forum. The President of Belarus will make an emphasis in his speech on the need to take care of war veterans, the importance of the state youth policy and the development of the common information space.
