Lukashenko, Putin discuss EEC, Russia’s measures to safeguard its economic security

MINSK, 7 August (BelTA) – Russian President Vladimir Putin called President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to inform him about the economic measures taken by Russia against the countries that have imposed sanctions on Russian organizations and citizens, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

Vladimir Putin expressed the hope that Belarus will understand the steps taken by Russia toe ensure its economic security.

In turn, the President of Belarus said that full transparency will be ensured on the border in a spirit of partnership.

The heads of state discussed the cooperation in the Eurasian Economic Union and its enlargement. The parties reaffirmed the position that Armenia’s accession should not be to the detriment of the interests of the Customs Union.

During the conversation Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin exchanged views on the development of the situation in Ukraine's economy in connection with the signing of the association agreement with the European Union.
