Lukashenko, Putin agree to discuss synchronization of efforts in economy in detail

MINSK, 28 January (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Russia President Vladimir Putin spoke by telephone on 28 January, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The heads of state discussed the schedule of joint events in the future. In particular, they focused on two major events: the session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State which will take place in Minsk at the end of February and the 3rd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia which will also take place it the Belarusian capital in June.

The economy is the main area of focus of the today’s telephone talk and the forthcoming events. The participants of the Supreme State Council session will discuss microeconomic issues; the forum of regions will concentrate on the efforts of certain industries to overcome economic difficulties.

The heads of state also discussed measures to synchronize efforts in the existing conditions.

The leaders pointed out the fact that the agreement on the establishment of a free trade zone between Ukraine and the EU was launched. In this context, they discussed the countries’ short-term activities in these conditions.

The President also discussed the operation of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Besides, Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin agreed to have a one-on-one meeting in the near future to discuss bilateral cooperation issues in detail.
