Lukashenko promises to update administrative procedures for business if need be

MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – I am ready to adopt a new list of administrative procedures for business in person if need be, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko noted as he met with representatives of the business community on 22 December, BelTA informs.

“It was difficult to understand the purpose of separate procedures. We got rid of them without regret. The addendum to the relevant document that I signed stipulates all the procedures. This is the final version of the list of administrative procedures for business. A new reduced one will be approved if need be,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The president pointed to relevant experience in adopting traffic regulations. “I noted that the new rules and new provisions would emerge every quarter. I would begin to look into whether they were necessary to sort things out. It appeared that they were not necessary. Then I forbade the police to make amendments to the laws and took this function upon myself. You know, since then, no one has ever come up with proposals to amend the rules because they should be backed up with facts,” the head of state remarked.

In his opinion, procedures should be adopted in the electronic format. This especially applies to land and property-related matters, drafting design and construction documents. “According to the ordinance, it is no longer necessary to seal a paper in an organization. It is time for us to stop using paper to exchange information. The current level of information technology makes it possible to get rid of these things of the past,” Alexander Lukashenko believes.

He underlined that the government needs to explore how this approach will work for the recently adopted digital economy ordinance. If it benefits the companies, this experience should be emulated nationwide.

“We have done a lot so that no one prevents people from working in a proper way. The only thing is that people should work honestly, make sure that everything is alright at the enterprise, and pay taxes. However, if it suddenly becomes known that someone has decided to cheat people and take advantage of their health and national security, these cheats will not get away with it. Let us get along,” the president summarized.
