Lukashenko presents general secretary of Vietnam’s Communist Party with Order of Friendship of Peoples

MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has conferred the Order of Friendship of Peoples on General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam, BelTA learned.

The Belarusian head of state signed a corresponding decree the other day. To Lam has been honored with the Order of Friendship of Peoples for his services to the friendly relations and strategic partnership between Belarus and Vietnam.

Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that To Lam is a friend of the Belarusian people and that presenting him with a high state award is not just a protocol gesture. "This award recognizes the great contribution made by the current general secretary to strengthening our cooperation," the head of state said. He pointed out that the current visit of the Vietnamese leader to Belarus is already the fourth one. "Thanks to you, we have saved the relations between Belarus and Vietnam and are taking them to the highest level. I am sure that with your help we will do a lot to ensure that no one will be able to destroy the foundation of our relations or even think about it. The current visit of the general secretary of the Central Committee is historic in terms of strengthening our relations," the Belarusian leader emphasized.
