MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko plans to visit the European Union before the end of the year, Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the media on the sidelines of the Minsk Dialogue Forum "European Security: Stepping Back from the Brink" in the Belarusian capital on 7 October, BelTA has learned.
“I hope that this year we will pay a full-fledged visit to the European Union,” Vladimir Makei said.
The minister added that more information on the head of state’s visit will be provided later. “We have always said that a visit cannot be made for the sake of a visit. A visit can be paid only then (and this is our principled approach) when it is well-prepared and when we expect concrete important results from it for the trade, economic, political, and humanitarian cooperation,” he stressed.
