Lukashenko outlines priority for Eurasian integration

MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) - The development of a fully-fledged economic union within the Eurasian space without withdrawals and restrictions remains top priority, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he delivered his annual Address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly on 31 March, BelTA has learned.

“Back then the launch of the Eurasian Economic Community marked a new qualitative stage of Eurasian integration. Today the priority task is to develop a fully-fledged economic union without withdrawals and restrictions. It is on its way to becoming one of the significant centers in Eurasia,” the president said.

According to him, this status will be achieved through cooperation with other friendly interstate associations and organizations, as well as through the formation of effective free trade zones with third countries.

The Belarusian president believes it is important to intensify cooperation with regional integrations EAEU, CIS and CSTO, and also develop closer cooperation with the SCO and BRICS for the economic consolidation of Eurasia.
