Lukashenko: Mankind is going the wrong way in its development

MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) – Mankind has been moving in the wrong direction in its development, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko told representatives of religious denominations, national associations and diplomatic missions during the Prayer for Belarus ceremony in the All Saints Memorial Temple in Minsk on 2 October, BelTA has learned.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, the human race has been going the wrong way not only in the issues related to wars but also in what concerns spiritual values. The President reminded all those present that speaking at the UN General Assembly he had warned the world against leveling traditional family relations down. He stressed that in New York world leaders repeatedly stated the necessity to stop wars and give people an opportunity to live in peace.

“We have been going the wrong way in some issues of humankind development. However, we start understanding that we have been doing it wrongly, that all these would end up in a catastrophe both in the issues of war and peace and moral values,” stressed Alexander Lukashenko. According to the President, a traditional family, the same as an interdenominational dialogue, is of great importance. Alexander Lukashenko expressed confidence that differences in the faith should cause disagreements. “Why should we argue, look at each other with a jaundiced eye?” Alexander Lukashenko wondered. “People are free to make their choice. It is the true democracy. Each chooses his/her path to the temple,” the President added.
