HANOI, 9 December (BelTA) - President Alexander Lukashenko who is in Vietnam on a state visit laid a wreath at the Monument to the Fallen Heroes in Hanoi on 9 December, BelTA has learned.
The monument erected in 1995 is a national memorial in honor of the fallen war heroes who gave their lives for the independence of Vietnam in all armed conflicts. The heads of official delegations traditionally lay wreaths at this monument.
Alexander Lukashenko also laid a wreath at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Ho Chi Minh was the first President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. The mausoleum is located at the biggest square in Vietnam, Ba Dihn Square. Ho Chi Minh read out the Declaration of Independence of Vietnam at this square in 1945. The 21 meters high mausoleum is divided into three sections. The first level is used as a presidium for solemn events. The body of Ho Chi Minh rests in the central hall of the mausoleum.
