Lukashenko: If farmers deliver results, they must be paid

BEREZA DISTRICT, 31 July (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized the importance of fair pay for rural workers during his working trip to Bereza District on 31 July, BelTA has learned.

The head of state toured one of the production branches of Savushkin Product in the district, as well as its agricultural enterprise Savushkin Luch.

“Why do people work well here? Because they are paid,” the president said. “They work for money, good money.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko also stressed the importance of paying wages on time. “Tell them what to do, let them do it, their pay depends on it. Pay them on time. Wages are the number one issue,” the president emphasized.

Particular attention was paid to the relationship between a major processor like Savushkin Product and the agricultural organizations that grow and supply raw materials for it. “The main thing is not to shortchange your neighbor, the one you depend on,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said addressing Director General of Savushkin Product Aleksandr Savchits.

“I proceed from the principle that we are on the same platform: if they go under, so will I,” the company head responded.

“Don’t be tight with the farmers. You can’t spoil them, but if they’re delivering, you’ve got to pay them,” the president said, continuing on the same note.

“I respect private entrepreneurs, and we will support them, but we need results. As I tell them simply and frankly: ‘Look, you have to share’ Not with me. You have to share with those who work alongside you, who work for you,” the president said.

“Because the products you create are the fruit of the intellect, experience, and drive of specialists and managers. Without money, without specialists, none of this would exist. But beyond all that, ordinary people, from the farmer to the worker at your factory, put their labor into it. So you have to share with the people,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.

The head of state is convinced that business owners should particularly value their employees and everyone who contributes to the final product. “Value those who with their own hands create glory, not just for this enterprise, not just for Brest Oblast, not so much for them, but for our country, for our Belarus,” the president emphasized.
