Lukashenko guarantees protection of Belarusian-Ukrainian border against banditism

ZHLOBIN, 25 September (BelTA) – The protection of the Belarusian-Ukrainian border is in the focus of the Belarusian authorities' attention, and the country is able to put a reliable protection against banditism penetration, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he talked to the personnel of Belarusian Steel Works (BMZ trademark) in Zhlobin on 25 September, BelTA informs.

“Some still shout “we are fighting there, we will come back and show everyone”. We [the state] will show them so that they will be somersaulting back to Ukraine, the Black Sea, and even further. Do not worry about it,” the Belarusian leader said.

“We will deal with those [Belarusian citizens] who fight today [in Ukraine] when they are back home. I have warned everyone. We have passed the corresponding law: if you decided to go to the war, i.e. to kill, no matter if it for Donbass or against it, you will have to answer. There are few of them, maybe 20 people. One went to the Maidan and returned in a coffin,” said Alexander Lukashenko.

The President acknowledged there are certain problems that come from Ukraine and Belarus has to address them through strengthening its border security. “I am not even talking about drugs… Weapons, guns, ammunition are brought here, they come here themselves. We are reinforcing the border. We have closed it completely. We will place such engineer installations that even a mouse will not come through. We will ensure the safety of our country,” the Belarusian leader said.

“I know many Ukrainians that have come here. We are doing our best to provide all of them with jobs. However, now we have to check all new arrivals in order to prevent bandits from entering the country, those who want to destabilize the situation in Belarus. We welcome all those who come here to live and work,” the head of state said. One of the questions to the head of state was addressed by a man who came from Ukraine not long ago and now works at this Belarusian company. In his words, he would like to stay in Belarus.
