Lukashenko extends condolences over Poles killed in Czech mine accident

MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has expressed condolences to Polish President Andrzej Duda, families and friends of the Polish miners who died after an explosion at a mine in the city of Karvina in the Czech Republic, BelTA has learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The head of state noted that it was with deep pain and sorrow that Belarus learned the news about the tragic event.

“In this difficult time for your country, I express my sincere condolences and words of support to you, families and friends of the victims and wish the injured speedy recovery on behalf of the Belarusian people and myself,” the message of condolences reads.

Several miners died after methane combustion at a coal mine in the east of the Czech Republic on 20 December. Most of them are Polish nationals. Several Polish miners are missing.
