MINSK, 16 June (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has expressed condolences to Germany President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, family and friends of Helmut Kohl, the people of Germany, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“It is with deep sorrow that I have learned the news about the passing of Helmut Kohl, a famous political figure and statesman, initiator of the German reunification, and one of the architects of the modern European economic space,” the head of state said. “Thanks to his wisdom, broad vision, and productive work, he was by right appreciated and respected both in his country and abroad, occupied his place among the remarkable representatives of our time.”
