Lukashenko explains decision to send negligent agricultural workers to the army

Lukashenko explains decision to send negligent agricultural workers to the army

BREST, 30 July (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko explained the reasoning behind the decision to send negligent harvesting workers to the army during a working trip to Brest Oblast on 30 July, BelTA has learned.

“This is not meant to scare anyone or to replenish army ranks. If you don’t want to work this job, we will test you at another one, a proper job for men and women - in the army. There are mosquitoes, gnats, and the like. Let them serve there. This is not some kind of mockery of people; we are simply giving them the opportunity to prove themselves in a different kind of work, a difficult, masculine one,” the head of state explained.

In this regard, the head of state spoke about the need to observe discipline. The president is confident that Belarusians can achieve a great deal if labor and technological discipline is observed at all levels.

“Our biggest problem is the lack of technological and labor discipline. We can do anything if there is discipline. Where the president has come to inspect, things are good. But I cannot be everywhere,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted. “We need to teach our people discipline. If there is discipline, we can do everything.”
