Lukashenko endorses concept of global alliance for sanctioned countries

MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) – It is a good idea for the nations facing sanctions to rally together, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he received the government’s performance report for 2025, BelTA has learned.

“Today, 50 countries around the world are under direct sanctions. The secondary effect probably already concerns hundreds of states. So Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs approached me as the chairman of the Supreme State Council [of the Union State] and suggested considering the idea of somehow bringing together all those under sanctions. They also pitched this idea to China. They didn't need to persuade it. China understands that it will be next," the head of state stated.

“If we unite and show our strength and power… If we join forces and reach an understanding, those who introduced sanctions against us will be frightened,” the Belarusian leader is convinced.
