MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – The economy is the key weapon in the modern world, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in his Address to the Belarusian people and the Parliament on 18 December, BelTA has learned.
“During the Belarusian People’s Congress, we will have to outline the main areas for the next five years. Before we review the draft prepared by the government, I would like to recall the fundamental principles that this document, our program, must meet. They are grounded in real life and are very relevant. The bedrock of everything is the economy. It is the key weapon in the modern world,” the president said.
“We need a solid foundation for implementing the next five-year plan, which includes ambitious goals and targets. If we want to reach an annual gross domestic product of $100 billion and an average monthly salary of $1,000 on a sustainable basis, our enterprises and financial system must operate steadily,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
