SAINT PETERSBURG, 21 December (BelTA) – The Eurasian Economic Union would welcome Uzbekistan as a full member, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the EAEU summit in St. Petersburg, BelTA has learned.
“To be honest, we look forward to Uzbekistan joining the EAEU as a full member. You are moving in that direction and undertaking significant efforts to this end. You must agree, it would be great if Uzbekistan joins our family. You will always be welcome there,” the Belarusian head of state remarked.
Uzbekistan currently holds observer status within the EAEU. Its president, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, participated in the expanded meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
