MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – The government has been instructed to conduct a comprehensive review of the role and functions of so-called development institutions, which are currently neither visible nor audible, by the first half of 2026, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed the Belarusian people and Parliament in Minsk on 18 December, BelTA has learned.
When discussing foreign trade, the president critically spoke about certain organizations. “Why are we spending so much money on agencies that are neither seen nor heard: the National Investment Agency (at the Economy Ministry), the National Center for Marketing and Price Study (the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the Agency for Foreign Economic Activity (the Development Bank), the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and others?” the head of state asked.
You know, here I am looking at the National Center for Marketing and Price Study at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. What marketing? What price study? Yes, such issues do exist. In fact, this is the job and reasonability of the entire Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Why do we need additional structures? These are cushy sinecures for officials with inflated staffs and salaries. They must be liquidated within the first quarter of 2026,” the president set the task.
