MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – Belarus will do everything to restore peace in Ukraine.
Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement at the bilateral meeting with
Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko prior to the
“Normandy four” talks in Minsk on 11 February, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian leader said: “I thank you for the trust in our country and our nation. It means a lot”.
“I would like to assure you that we will do everything to
ensure peace and tranquility in your country. It seems to me we have already proven it by our actions. We have been fulfilling everything we promise to you and the Ukrainian people. Rest assured that we will continue doing so,” stressed Alexander Lukashenko.
The Belarus President pointed out that the leaders of the two countries have stayed in touch a lot, have talked a lot albeit over the phone. Apart from the situation in Ukraine they have discussed an entire range of matters including the bilateral relations. “Surprisingly, we have not curtailed the trade. Contrariwise, trade is going well. We are also glad that we are taking a lot of orders from your enterprises,” said the Belarusian head of state.
