Lukashenko: Belarus will continue developing close cooperation with EEU

MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) - Belarus will develop close cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union while protecting its national interests, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in his inaugural address on 6 November, BelTA has learned.

“We will continue the development of the Union State with our brotherly Russia if it wishes so. We will develop close cooperation with our partners within the Eurasian Economic Union, protecting our national interests,” said the Belarusian leader.

According to the President, Belarus will remain to be an active player in the post-Soviet space. “It is important for well-being and safeguards us from different threats,” Alexander Lukashenko is confident.

The head of state emphasized that the relations have been rapidly developing with its strategic partner, China. Alexander Lukashenko expressed gratitude to Chinese President Xi Jinping and the delegation he sent to Minsk for the inauguration ceremony. “We spent three days together working, arguing, talking. I ask you to convey the warmest wishes to Xi Jinping for his support of the Belarusian people,” said the President of Belarus.

According to the head of state, Belarus actively develops relations with the states of Asia, Africa and Latin America.
