Lukashenko: Belarus stays committed to UN goals, ready to develop international cooperation

MINSK, 30 April (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent birthday greetings to Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The head of state expressed confidence that many achievements of the UN were made possible due to the ability of Antonio Guterres to organize the process of negotiations, to unite all those who are not indifferent to find the best solutions to a number of acute problems of the present time.

“The desire of the organization to conduct a dialogue based on mutual respect is undoubtedly in the interests of all mankind. Belarus highly appreciates your personal contribution to this work. I hope that we will continue our constructive and effective interaction after your re-election for the next term. I would like to take this opportunity to express Belarus' strong support for your candidature to the post of the UN Secretary General,” the president said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that Belarus remains committed to the objectives of the organization and confirms its willingness to develop international cooperation while preserving the principles of sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs.
