MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) – Belarus pursues a consistent good-neighbor and peace-loving policy while remembering lessons of the war. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement during the ceremony held on 9 May to lay wreaths at the Victory Monument in Minsk on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the Soviet nation’s victory in the Great Patriotic War, BelTA has learned.
The head of state stressed: “Peace and tranquility on the planet and in our country represent the greatest accomplishments of our day and age. Remembering lessons of the war, we pursue a consistent good-neighbor and peace-loving policy. We treasure the relations of brotherhood with the Russians and the Ukrainians. We highly appreciate friendship and cooperation with our nations and countries. And we are going to do everything necessary to keep Belarus a blessed land of stability, creativity, and good will.”
According to Alexander Lukashenko, this is why Belarus constantly exercises efforts to bolster its defense potential and speaks in favor of peaceful ways to resolve any problems in the international scene.
“It is the way of life we’ve inherited from our fathers and forefathers, who paid with their lives to protect the country from the brown plague,” concluded the Belarus President. “I wish Happy Victory Day to my fellow Belarusians and guests of Minsk! I wish you happiness and prosperity!”
