The summit will take place in Dushanbe on 28 September. The heads of state will discuss political interaction, further development of cooperation in culture, humanitarian sector and security.

It is expected that Alexander Lukashenko will hold a number of meetings with foreign leaders on the sidelines of the summit in Dushanbe.

On 27 September Dushanbe hosted the meeting of the CIS Ministerial Council. The foreign ministers exchanged views on current issues on the international agenda and cooperation in the CIS, reviewed the draft documents to be discussed at the CIS Summit on 28 September.

During the visit to Dushanbe, the Belarusian president will take part in the Belarus-Tajikistan events. Alexander Lukashenko and Emomali Rahmon will discuss bilateral cooperation and take stock of the progress made in the implementation of the previously-made agreements.

A comprehensive draft treaty on strategic partnership between Belarus and Tajikistan has been drawn up, Ambassador of Belarus to Tajikistan Oleg Ivanov told the media. The ambassador also announced a joint visit of the two leaders to the plant assembling Belarusian tractors in Hisor. The plant in Hisor is a fully-integrated enterprise that includes delivery of components from Belarus, assembly and personnel training, the use of vehicles in the fields and harvesting. The presidents will get familiar with the harvests of cotton, wheat and vegetables cropped this year with the use of Belarusian equipment in Hisor.

The Belarusian head of state paid an official visit to Tajikistan in May 2018. The presidents inaugurated the plant to assemble Belarusian agricultural machinery in the town of Hisor. This plant was included in the list of very important facilities by the government of Tajikistan. “I will visit the plant in September and see how things are. You will report about the markets you have advanced to. We intend to create a hub here to gain access to other markets,” Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko said at the enterprise.
