MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has approved an agreement on comprehensive economic cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), its member states and Singapore. The head of state signed corresponding Decree No. 145 on 24 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

An agreement was signed on 1 October 2019 after the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. At the summit Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong stressed that the signing of this document is a result of the talks which lasted for more than two years. A mutually beneficial solution was found. “The Eurasian market is a big market at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. It has a huge potential for economic growth, especially in logistics and the digital sector. Singapore is interested in these fields. And this is a great opportunity for cooperation,” he said.

The free trade agreement gives advantages not only in trade. “We believe that the agreement will facilitate development of industries in the EAEU member states, investment, and establishment of contacts between people and businessmen. I am sure that the agreement will bring our regions closer together,” Lee Hsien Loong added back then.
