Lukashenko announces new appointments

MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko announced new appointments on 21 March, BelTA informs.

“I believe that practically all these appointments are unconventional from the point of view of my style of work,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said opening the meeting.

The head of state appointed Leonid Zayats vice-premier in charge of agricultural industry. “Your main task is to promote exports. You know it very well. Great opportunities open up in our major markets, Russia and China, and in other countries as well. I think you will do well in your new role,” the president told the new deputy prime minister.

Aleksandr Lukashenko also gave the go-ahead to appoint the new heads of the Chashniky District Executive Committee, the Belarusian Potash Company and the Bobruiskagromash holding company, rector of Grodno State Medical University. The economy minister will get a new deputy; a number of appointments were made at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

When announcing personnel decisions, Aleksandr Lukashenko thanked the attendees for their decision to join the civil service system in such difficult times.

“Guys, I really appreciate that in these difficult times you join the civil service system, become civil servants. Your previous work was good, calm, important for the people and the state, while your new job will be very demanding. Therefore, I am grateful to you for taking the risk of becoming civil servants at this time. You served the state anyway before your appointment,” the president said.
