Lukashenko addresses rumors about Oreshnik location in Belarus

MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) – Belarusian President and Chairman of the Belarusian People’s Congress Aleksandr Lukashenko responded to rumors regarding the location of the Oreshnik missile system in Belarus as he spoke at the second session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress on 19 December, reports a BELTA correspondent.

“Today I read that some of our self-exiled opposition abroad stated that we supposedly deployed Oreshnik somewhere near Slutsk. I won’t say where and I’m not going to. But it’s an utter lie. We never stationed Oreshnik in or around Slutsk,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “We deployed it where it is more advantageous, but I will not speak about that. Although, in time, it will no longer be a secret. Creating such a positional area in a short period (or a long one)... It will not remain secret.”

“I read it and smile: how foolish they are! Many people know and understand this is not true. They just crave media attention. So why are the USA or Europe paying them? They do not know a thing,” the head of state added.
