Lukashenko: 2016 will be a crucial year for all Belarusian enterprises

MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – The year 2016 will be crucial for all Belarusian enterprises, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting with the workers of Minsk Motor Plant on 6 May, BelTA has learned.

“The year 2016 will be crucial for all enterprises of the country, especially for such giants as Minsk Motor Plant,” Alexander Lukashenko noted. Other industrial giants are MAZ, BelAZ, MTZ, Gomselmash. According to the President, we cannot lose them because they are the brand of our country.

During the visit to the plant the head of state was informed about the current situation and prospects of Minsk Motor Plant, and a number of topical issues, including the conflict of interests with certain enterprises which are not satisfied with the increase in prices for engines. The efforts to prevent the output reduction and to diversify export were also discussed.

At the meeting with the workers of the plant the head of state noted that the current state of affairs at the enterprise is not ideal, but the main thing is that people working at the plant realize what they have to do move forward. “This year will be crucial for you,” the President said. “We will see the results of your efforts to ramp up the output of engines and diversify export.”

The head of state stressed that the financial issue is not the main one for Minsk Motor Plant today. The enterprise is not very rich, but it has good prospects, the President believes. He emphasized that quality is the main priority for this plant and other factories.

In 2015, Minsk Motor Plant assembled 45,200 engines. The President was briefed that the enterprise plans to assemble 58,000-60,000 engines this year. The enterprise is also implementing projects aimed at expanding the lineup of engines, improving production technologies, and diversifying sales markets.
