Lavrov: Union State cooperation plans are on track

MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) - The plans for developing cooperation within the Union State are being steadily implemented, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told the media following a meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the conversation with the Belarusian president was quite lengthy. “He devoted a great deal of time to discussing the current situation in the Union State. There are many plans, and they are on track and moving forward steadily, making it possible to achieve the objectives set by the presidents, who regularly compare their notes and outline specific directions for further movement,” the minister said.

Sergey Lavrov also said that the meeting with the president touched on upcoming events scheduled for this very month. These include a forum in Brest commemorating the beginning of the Great Patriotic War and a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State. “In the coming days, there will be another meeting of our prime ministers. In short, the intensity of our contacts is well known to everyone. This benefits ordinary, normal human communication, and that is the most important and most solid foundation of our fraternal relations,” he added.
