Lavrov: Russia-Belarus security guarantees treaty makes great contribution to Eurasian architecture

MOSCOW, 11 February (BelTA) - The treaty between Belarus and Russia on security guarantees within the Union State makes a significant contribution to the architecture of Eurasian security, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said as he delivered a report on the priorities of Russian foreign policy to the State Duma, BelTA has learned.

“The treaty on security guarantees with Belarus, which has entered into force, makes a significant contribution to the Eurasian security architecture,” Sergey Lavrov said.

He noted that strategic partnership and allied relations with the CIS and CSTO member states contribute to strengthening security and maintaining regional stability. “We will work to enhance these relations. Russia's chairmanship of the Collective Security Treaty Organization this year provides a good opportunity to do so,” the Russian top diplomat stated.

Sergey Lavrov recalled that among the priorities of the Russian chairmanship are deepening foreign policy coordination among CSTO member states, promoting joint initiatives, and expanding the organization's engagement with international partners.
