Kyrgyzstan honorary consulate opened in Grodno

GRODNO, 28 February (BelTA) – Grodno has become the first Belarusian oblast center where Kyrgyzstan opened its honorary consulate, BelTA reports.

“The opening of a diplomatic mission is an important step in the development of bilateral relations. We have a mutual interest and cooperation prospects in all areas, from industry and agriculture to tourism and education,” Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Belarus Kubanychbek Оmuraliev noted during the ceremony. He stressed that the Kyrgyz side vests great hopes on the honorary consulate in terms of strengthening of friendly relations between the countries and expanding of trade and economic ties.

“This is a significant event in the life both of the city and the region. We have many proposals on the development of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation, and the opening of the new diplomatic mission of an EEU member country will contribute to their implementation,” Chairman of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee Vladimir Kravtsov noted. In particular, during the meeting at the Executive Committee, the Kyrgyz side suggested cooperation in mechanical engineering, consumer goods industry, woodworking, public utilities, and tourism.

“One of the main tasks of the consulate is to protect the rights and interests of the citizens of Kyrgyzstan. Many Kyrgyz carriers cross the Lithuanian border or Polish border here. If any problem emerges, it will be our priority to solve it. We are also ready to answer the questions of the citizens of Kyrgyzstan who live either in Grodno Oblast or Brest Oblast,” honorary consul Igor Chivel noted. He stressed that much attention is also paid to the development of economic relations between the countries and the regions. He believes that the opening of the consulate will provide for a starting platform to establish contacts between enterprises and businesses. “For example, the representatives of the tourism industry of Kyrgyzstan will get a platform to show their abilities here, and the Grodno manufacturers can expect that they will get all the necessary contacts with the Kyrgyz side,” Igor Chivel said.
