Kochanova to take part in video conference ahead of Victory Day

MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova will take part in a video conference timed to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory on 7 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the Council of the Republic.

It is expected that participating in the video conference will be Chairperson of the Federation Council of of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko, the heads of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Moldova, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The video conference will discuss the issues of preserving the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War, patriotic education of young people, support for veterans and also joint historical and cultural projects dedicated to the military events and the Great Victory, the press service said.

“Belarus has always given a special attention towards the preservation of the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War. The lessons of the past teach us to appreciate the peace and accord that we have. The war claimed the lives of millions of people. It is our common duty to remember the cost of victory, to preserve the truth about the war and to pass it on to future generations,”the Council of the Republic said.
