Kochanova: Belarus-Palestine cooperation should enter a new stage
MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – Cooperation between Belarus and Palestine should enter a new stage, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said as she met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Belarus Ahmed Almathbouh, BelTA has learned.
“I welcome you to our country. You started working here not so long ago, but I hope that during the term of your service here the interaction between Belarus and Palestine will be fruitful and, most importantly, effective. You know that the Belarusian people have a good opinion of your country. I am sure that people in Palestine know Belarus as a peace-loving, friendly state. We have always supported Palestine’s efforts to defend its national interests and sovereignty, in fact, like in any other country. We perfectly understand what sovereignty and independence are about and how expensive they are. The most important thing for people is to live on their own land, in a sovereign, independent state. Therefore, we have always backed you and will continue to support you at all international platforms. Belarus has always provided political support for Palestine during the annual vote in the United Nations.
The speaker noted that Belarus and Palestine can cooperate in absolutely all areas: in education, healthcare, and in humanitarian matters. “It is important for us to have a legal framework for our relations. Our trade and economic cooperation can develop in absolutely all areas. We have something to offer to Palestine. For example, our agricultural equipment. We are grateful to Palestine for supplying medicines,” the chairperson of the Council of the Republic emphasized.
Parliamentarians are ready to assist in addressing all issues related to bilateral cooperation, added Natalya Kochanova. “We will do our best to advance our cooperation to a new level,” she said.
The speaker noted that today Belarusian universities are interested in collaborations with Palestinian educational institutions. “We can and should promote this area of cooperation. Indeed, young people should know about the partner country, this is important for the future of our states,” Natalya Kochanova noted.
