MINSK, 15 December (BelTA) – Iran intends to use all opportunities for interaction with Belarus within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS. Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi mentioned it after a meeting with Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov, BelTA has learned.
“We cooperate with Belarus within the framework of the SCO and BRICS, and it is necessary to use all the opportunities offered by these organizations to advance our cooperation,” the Iranian minister of foreign affairs noted.
He stressed that Belarus occupies a special place among the like-minded countries that want to cooperate with Iran on a mutually beneficial basis. “These states are a priority, and Belarus has a special position. Therefore, we strive to use all the opportunities we have in order to advance the relations for the benefit of our nations,” Abbas Araghchi said.
The Iranian minister of foreign affairs noted the importance of Aleksandr Lukashenko’s visit to Iran last year and of the visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Belarus in August 2025. “These were turning points in our relations. They gave impetus to the further advancement of Belarusian-Iranian cooperation in politics and economy,” the foreign guest said.
In his opinion, both countries have economic opportunities to advance and deepen the bilateral relations.
