MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov met with newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation and concurrently to the Republic of Belarus Mohammad Wahid Supriyadi, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current issues of bilateral cooperation and outlined the main areas of cooperation in political, trade, economic, scientific-technical and cultural areas.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia presented the copies of credentials to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Diplomatic relations between Belarus and Indonesia were established in 1993. In 2011 Belarus opened its Embassy in that country.
Trade between the two countries rose from $1.8 million in 1995 to $193.7 million in 2015.
Belarus’ major exports to Indonesia are potash fertilizers, caprolactam, tires, and polyamides. Main imports are natural rubber, recycled fish, optic fibers, palm and coconut oil, medicines, coated paper, raw tobacco, dyestuffs, printing equipment, furniture, tin, cocoa, footwear, etc.
