“Belarus has played a special part in the regulation of the recent events in Ukraine. The Minsk agreements and the peace plan adopted in February 2015 suggested a way towards a peaceful settlement of the conflict. India praises and welcomes the corresponding efforts of President Alexander Lukashenko. We believe that all internal conflicts as well as disagreements in the foreign policy should be addressed peacefully and without the use of force,” Mr. Pranab Mukherjee said.

According to the President of India, terrorism is the world’s biggest threat today. “India is against terrorism in any of its forms and manifestations. We believe in a complex approach to the terrorism issue. Segmental and partial efforts to combat terrorism undertaken by some countries fail. Frankly speaking, India believes that international organizations, which were set up after World War Two, need reforms in order to meet the realities of the 21^st century. We think we have the right to enhance our institutional role in the international decision making and organizations, especially in the UN Security Council and international financial institutions. Belarus is our important partner in it,” Mr. Pranab Mukherjee said.

India and Belarus have been successfully cooperating within multilateral forums, including the United Nations Organization. According to the President of India, the two countries have similar views on a number of international issues. India intends to continue cooperation with Belarus both in multilateral organizations and at the level of bilateral political dialogue through a regular exchange of high-level visits and ministerial cooperation, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee said.
