Independence Day congratulations sent to Belarus president, Belarusian people

MINSK, 3 July (BelTA) – Foreign heads of state, foreign political and public figures, heads of integration associations have sent a number of congratulations on Belarus’ Independence Day to Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and the Belarusian nation, BelTA has learned.

Congratulatory messages from the Pope, the queen of Great Britain, and the kings of Belgium and Thailand have already been received.

Presidents of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Serbia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Venezuela, Germany, South Korea, Austria, Latvia, Bulgaria, Hungary, the UAE, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, Singapore, Palestine, prime ministers of Cuba, Russia, and Armenia have already congratulated the Belarusian nation and the head of state on Belarus’ Independence Day.

The message sent by President of Russia Vladimir Putin reads: “Our nations hold sacred memory about the courage and heroism of those, who took up arms to defend the fatherland in the rough years of the war. It is important that ties of brotherly friendship and mutual aid bequeathed by our fathers and forefathers remain the guarantee of solid Belarusian-Russian relations. I am convinced that through joint efforts we will continue advancing constructive bilateral cooperation in all areas as well as mutually beneficial integration processes within the framework of the Union State of Belarus and Russia and in the Eurasian space.”

The message sent by China President Xi Jinping reads: “In the last few years political stability, sustainable economic development, and growing living standards of the nation have been preserved in Belarus thanks to your firm leadership. The overall power of the state and its influence in the international scene continue rising. China is sincerely glad to hear it as a good friend and a good partner of Belarus.”

Germany President Frank-Walter Steinmeier pointed out that Belarusian-German relations have been considerably intensified in the last few years. “I am glad that via the joint ceremony in Maly Trostenets in June 2018 we’ve managed to send a historic signal for joint memory. Preparations for setting up the bilateral historic commission are on the right track,” the message reads. “Belarus’ work as part of joint efforts of European countries to preserve peace and security by offering a venue for Minsk negotiations also deserves our recognition.”

The message sent by U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo on the occasion of Belarus’ Independence Day reads: “The United States is a steadfast supporter of the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Belarus. Respect for human rights and freedoms, as well as the continued development of democratic principles, are key to building prosperous, resilient, and peaceful nations. We look forward to continued dialogue on these issues for the benefit of both our countries. I extend my best wishes to all the people of Belarus on this day.”
