MINSK, 3 November (BelTA) - President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer will travel to Belarus on the first working visit on 7-9 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Peter Maurer is scheduled to meet with Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei, representatives of the government bodies, the academic community.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host a ceremony of signing an agreement between Belarus and the International Committee of the Red Cross regarding the status, privileges and immunities of the ICRC in Belarus. The document will enable the ICRC to open an office in Minsk.

During his stay in Belarus, the head of the ICRC will attend the opening of the 6th regional seminar of the International Committee of the Red Cross to discuss the implementation of international humanitarian law.
