Hope for UN reform to reboot Belarus-UNDP relations

MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) – Future interaction between the Belarusian Economy Ministry and the UNDP representative office in Belarus was discussed as Economy Minister Dmitry Krutoi met with the new UNDP resident representative in Belarus Alexandra Solovieva, BelTA has learned.

Dmitry Krutoi congratulated Alexandra Solovieva on her appointment. He said he hopes that Belarus-UNDP relations will be rebooted in conditions of the ongoing UN reform.

The sides also exchanged opinions about prospects of future interaction, including in the course of implementing international technical aid projects in such areas as the development of regions, green economy, and social security for vulnerable groups.

The Belarusian Economy Ministry and the UNDP are busy implementing two international technical aid projects. One is designed to encourage employment and self-employment in small towns and small cities while the other one is supposed to support economic development at the local level.

Alexandra Solovieva assured she would do her best to secure successful partnership. In particular, the possibility of the UNDP’s assistance with enhancing the HR potential of government agencies was mentioned.
