MINSK, 5 August (BelTA) - Belarusians are more satisfied with their lives than residents of the neighboring countries, Austrian sociologist, Doctor of Political Sciences Christian Haerpfer said in an interview to the ONT TV channel, BelTA informs.

“The Belarusian society differs from others. Life satisfaction here is higher than in the neighboring countries. The main contributor to this is stability in various sectors: education, healthcare, economy, politics, which secures a higher quality of life. For instance, Ukraine and Georgia are living through considerable social and political transformations. As a result, people live under stress there. They cannot plan their lives, do not know what tomorrow will be like,” said Christian Haerpfer.

In his words, such a situation does not mean that the social institutes of Belarus stay the same. “They change and improve gradually, not as in some countries where the old system is destroyed to build up something absolutely new. That is why the Belarusian system of values itself is stable,” the sociologist said.
