GRODNO, 22 September (BelTA) – An agreement on twinning relations between Grodno and Ukhta, the Republic of Komi, Russia was signed during the Grodno Oblast at the Crossroads of Borders investment forum on 22 September, BelTA has learned.

The investment forum is held as part of the 19^th edition of the national universal trading fair Euroregion Neman 2017 that opened in Grodno on 22 September. The forum themed Initiatives-Innovations-Investments has gathered more than 400 participants from 15 countries.

“The forum is a good opportunity to discuss investment and trade cooperation. The event is held in the Year of Science. The region has all the conditions for the implementation of innovative and high-tech projects,” Grodno Oblast Governor Vladimir Kravtsov said at a plenary session of the investment forum.

Apart from the twinning agreement signed between Grodno and Ukhta, an agreement on trade, economic, sci-tech, humanitarian and cultural cooperation was concluded between the Republic of Komi and Grodno Oblast.

In the area on investment cooperation Grodno Oblast concluded memorandums of understanding and further cooperation with Lithuania’s Marijampoles Arvi and Belarus’ Belagroterminal.

As for the trade and economic sector, the forum witnessed the signing of the documents on twinning relations between Grodno, Tambov and Longnan, and also between Oshmyany District and Gulbene District of Latvia. The Grodno Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed documents on cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mures, Romania and the National Confederation Business and Capital (Lithuania). The Lida District Executive Committee and OAO Lidskoye Pivo concluded a tourism promotion agreement.

The 19^th edition of the national universal trading fair Euroregion Neman 2017 is taking place in Grodno on 22-23 September. Taking part in the forum are over 160 exhibitors, including representatives of 15 companies from Italy, China, Azerbaijan, Latvia, and Poland.
