MINSK, 23 November (BelTA) – Belarus will continue taking measures to raise the country’s defensive capability, BelTA learned from an official statement by Chief of the General Staff of Belarus’ Armed Forces, First Deputy Defense Minister, Major-General Viktor Gulevich.

The press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry quoted Viktor Gulevich as saying: “Statements by former high-ranking military figures, who try to present themselves as ‘experts’ in matters of military art, are published by foreign mass media more and more frequently. On the whole, we see how the population of Poland, the Baltic states, and Ukraine is being taught to accept that a war is unavoidable. Further increase in the defensive capability of the Republic of Belarus will be the answer to provocative statements. We will intensify combat training and will continue gathering intelligence in order to prevent sudden aggression against our country.”

Matters concerning the prompt deployment of force groupings in various directions will be practiced during various exercises and drills over the course of the academic year. Various options for repulsing military aggression against Belarus will be tested. This approach will underpin the training of Belarus’ Armed Forces in 2021-2022, the officer said.
