French MPs emphasize Belarus’ important role in building trust in Europe

MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – The French MPs have emphasized an important role of Belarus in building trust and strengthening security in Europe. The matter was discussed at a meeting of Chairman of the International Affairs Commission of the House of Representatives of Belarus Valery Voronetsky and the delegation of the National Assembly of France led by Chairman of the France-Belarus Friendship Group Christophe Lejeune, BelTA learned from the House of Representatives.

The parties focused on Belarus-France relations and the current geopolitical situation in Europe, as well as Belarus’ role in building stability and security in the region, broader engagement and consolidation in Europe, and ways to enhance the region’s competitiveness.

“The French MPs underlined the important role Belarus can and must play in promoting peace and stability in the region, building trust and strengthening security in Europe in general. They expressed interest in scaling up interparliamentary cooperation, intensifying trade, economic and cultural contacts,” the press service informed.

Valery Voronetsky noted that Belarus and France have been consistently expanding their contacts that are friendly and pragmatic in nature. The bilateral cooperation in trade, economy, investment, culture and tourism is on the rise. Valery Voronetsky expressed confidence that the two countries need to maximize cooperation benefits at international organizations.
