Foreign ministries of Belarus and Zimbabwe discuss trade and multilateral cooperation

MINSK, 14 September (BelTA) – The second round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Belarus and Zimbabwe took place in Minsk on 14 September, BelTA reports, citing the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Belarusian delegation was headed by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lukashevich, and the Zimbabwean delegation by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Sheillah Chikomo.

The parties discussed the current state and prospects for developing political, trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation, the progress of implementing the roadmap for strategic cooperation and partnership for 2026-2030, the creation of conditions for increasing mutual trade, the improvement of the legal framework, and interaction within the UN and other international organizations.

The diplomats mapped out concrete steps to accelerate joint projects and agreed to keep pursuing the idea of a preferential trade agreement between the EAEU and Zimbabwe. They also agreed to hold the second meeting of the joint standing commission on cooperation and the 4th Belarusian-Zimbabwean Business Forum in Minsk this year.

The consultations, held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, confirmed the strategic nature of the Belarusian-Zimbabwean partnership.
