Foreign military attaches to get familiar with Belarusian experience in forensic examination

MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – Military attaches of eleven countries will get familiar with the Belarusian experience in the sphere of forensic examination, BelTA learned from Anna Zhdanova, an official spokeswoman for Belarus’ State Forensic Examination Committee.

Representatives of Venezuela, Vietnam, Russia, the USA, Poland, Norway, Ukraine, Germany, and other countries are expected to visit Belarus’ State Forensic Examination Committee on 27 April. They will be made familiar with labs in the committee’s HQ where narcotic substances, psychotropic substances and their precursors as well as oil products are examined, where explosive tests, fire tests, and ballistic tests are performed. The guests will see how the automated fingerprint identification system Dakto-2000 works. They will be informed about the technical solutions for examining documents and money at the Committee’s disposal. Cooperation with forensic examination experts of foreign law enforcement agencies will be discussed as well as prospects of sharing the best practices and working together.

An army and air force attache of the Chinese embassy visited the State Forensic Examination Committee of Belarus in January 2018. Cooperation with Chinese expert institutions was discussed. As a result a memorandum of cooperation in forensic examination science with the Material Evidence Identity Center of China’s Public Security Ministry was signed in Minsk on 19 April.

In Belarus forensic scientists operate under the aegis of one agency. Results of the forensic examination system reform have been repeatedly praised by various foreign delegations the committee frequently welcomes. An international science and practice conference on challenges, problems, possible solutions, and development prospects in Eurasian partnership of forensic scientists took place a short while ago. Representatives of over 30 expert institutions from more than 20 countries took part in the conference.
