Foreign diplomats briefed on Belarus visa-free entry rules

MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) - Foreign diplomats have been briefed about the rules of visa-free entry to Belarus for citizens of their countries, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted representatives of the diplomatic missions of the EU member countries, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Norway and the Vatican. They met with Igor Fisenko, Head of the Central Consular Office, Andrei Bushilo, Head of the European Cooperation Office, and Alexei Samosuyev, Head of Eurasian Integration Department of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting the foreign diplomats were informed in detail about the decree on visa-free entry and departure for foreign citizens. In 2017 Belarus will preside in the Central European Initiative and will host a session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in July. As it was pointed out during the meeting these facts were taken into account when the decision on visa-free entry was made.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that Belarus is interested in stepping up cooperation in political, trade, economic and other areas with these countries.

The meeting participants also discussed the situation in the region.
