FMs of Belarus, India review schedule of top-level meetings
NEW DELHI, 12 September (BelTA) – Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov discussed the upcoming schedule of top-level and high-level meetings with his Indian counterpart in New Delhi, BelTA has learned.
Maxim Ryzhenkov met with Indian Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi.
“We discussed the entire range of our bilateral relations. This includes the upcoming timeline for top-level and high-level meetings, the next session of the joint commission on trade and economic cooperation, and the implementation of various proposals from both sides. We also reviewed the introduction of electronic visas for Indian citizens visiting Belarus, the launch of new flights between the two countries, and the creation of additional mechanisms to boost bilateral trade and political cooperation,” Maxim Ryzhenkov noted.
The minister noted that Belarus-India relations are developing very dynamically. “Over the past few years, our bilateral trade has been growing very well. It is not just the financial flows that are rising, the range of goods exchanged between Belarus and India is also expanding. This is a mutually beneficial process. Furthermore, combining our exports of goods and services, we hit around $1.1 billion last year. This year, our bilateral trade has already jumped by 25-30%,” the foreign minister emphasized.
Maxim Ryzhenkov pointed out that Belarus is pleased with the way relations with India are shaping up. “We hope to delight our citizens with very positive and interesting developments in our cooperation with this country soon,” the foreign minister concluded.
The main theme of the current Indian BRICS presidency is "Building Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainable Development Principles."
New Delhi is hosting the 18th BRICS Summit on 12-13 September. The Indian capital welcomes 26 delegations from around the world, including BRICS partner nations and international organizations. The central theme of India’s current chairmanship is Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.
