MINSK, 9 September (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei has met with Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of Belarus, Archbishop Ante Jozic to discuss issues on the bilateral agenda, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The parties discussed humanitarian cooperation, and also interaction between the two states in international organizations. Vladimir Makei confirmed the country's traditional focus on further development of constructive cooperation with the Vatican, the ministry said.

“The minister emphasized the inviolability of the official approaches towards the Roman Catholic Church in Belarus, the inadmissibility of inciting religious intolerance and the importance of preserving ethno-confessional harmony in the country in general. In this context, one should not attach any importance to individual, solely subjective attempts to present the situation differently,” the press service said.

The parties agreed to continue maintaining a sincere and transparent dialogue on all issues related to the intensification of Belarusian-Vatican cooperation and the strengthening of interfaith harmony.
