FM: Belarus aims to develop new solutions to support initiatives of Belarusians abroad

MINSK, 19 November (BelTA) - Belarus aims to develop new solutions to support the initiatives of the Belarusians abroad, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said at a meeting of the Advisory Council for Belarusians Abroad at the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Minsk on 19 November, BelTA has learned.

Such meetings have already become traditional. But, as Vladimir Makei noted, they were canceled last year amid the coronavirus pandemic and related restrictions on travel.

"Despite the difficult epidemiological situation, we aim to develop new solutions to support initiatives and joint activities with the Belarusians abroad," the minister stressed.

The meeting of the Advisory Council was attended by the heads of Belarusian organizations abroad, representatives of government bodies and institutions, public organizations.

The participants of the event discussed the results of joint work and prospects for further cooperation, and social and political life in the country.

Vladimir Makei stated that the council is an important platform for discussing the interaction between the state and the diaspora. The minister stressed that the government will continue to support compatriots in promoting the Belarusian language and culture abroad, preserving the national traditions and spiritual values.
