Equatorial Guinea president awards Order of Independence to Lukashenko

MALABO, 9 December (BelTA) – Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo has bestowed an Order of Independence upon Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.

This order is one of the highest government awards in Equatorial Guinea.

The president of Equatorial Guinea said: “It is a great honor for us to host such a great person in the territory of our Motherland. And we didn’t expect him to visit us so soon.”

He remarked that the leaders of the two countries met in Minsk only several months ago and shortly after Aleksandr Lukashenko arrived in Equatorial Guinea. “We are very grateful,” Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo said.

As he accepted the order, Aleksandr Lukashenko stated: “There is no way out. Equatorial Guinea must be independent!”
